Often it seems we have more than one inner voice. Learn to distinguish which voice is worthy of your attention. Use this creative tool to choose the voice that successful people choose, and put yourself on the path to success.

The most powerful life lessons come to us through the most challenging circumstances.

If you are in a difficult work situation (or a difficult life situation), the best thing you can do for yourself is to use it as an opportunity for self improvement.

Negative habits, patterns and practices often become glaringly obvious in our most difficult times. From a psychological standpoint, they usually represent an attempt by our mind to take care of us. The voice that always says, “Yes, but…”, when we are trying to maneuver through something stressful is simply trying to protect us.

This monkey mind, or critical mind is useful when we are younger. It keeps us from crossing the road when there is traffic, or touching a hot burner on a stove. As we grow older, however, it can become a hindrance to our success.

The goal is to learn to manage the monkey mind constructively.

Research has shown an important distinction between under-earners and high achievers. High achievers are able to put the critical mind in its place. They take action in spite of all its objections… one step at a time.

Those who succeed in manifesting joy and satisfaction in their lives are able to see this critical mind objectively, and act from a place above it.

The objective observer does not judge or fight the admonishments of the critical mind. It simply acknowledges them. From this place of non-judgment, we can choose trust rather than fear.

You are here to do something meaningful, to satisfy your heart and soul. My best advice on the subject of the critical mind is to:

Observe it.
Acknowledge it.
Take action from a higher (wiser) place.

In this way, you will learn to manage the inner criticism more effectively. And, while it will not go away, it will become less instrumental in your daily habits, patterns and practices.

Legacy entrepreneurs and creative visionaries often have a rich soil of opportunity when it comes to dealing with doubts and fears that come from the critical mind. If you are someone who struggles with overcoming self-doubt and criticism on your quest for self-improvement, I can offer many helpful resources.

You can achieve your goals. You can live a life of purpose and satisfaction!
